Founded in 2002 through the initiative of GM Smbat Lputian, under the auspices of the Armenian Chess Federation, and supported by the Armenian Government, the Chess Academy of Armenia is the leading center of chess training and organization in Armenia today. The Academy’s mission is multi-faceted: preparing tomorrow’s elite players and trainers to maintain Armenia ’s position as an epicenter in the chess world, organizing top-class chess tournaments attracting top chess players worldwide, and popularizing chess throughout the nation, primarily through its ever-growing network of affiliated chapters.

Pan-Armenian Chess Olympiad

 The Chess Academy of Armenia in cooperation with the Ministry of Diaspora of RA is organizing the first Pan-Armenian Chess Olympiad during 14 to 23 August, 2010. The Armenian chess-players, less than 35 years old, can take part in the Chess Olympiad. The Olympiad will be run by the individual/team system (This means that the players compete for individual place and for team place). The team consists of four chess-players (one of them is a girl). 10 teams will be formed by the following principle: 1team from: Southern America, Northern America, Europe, CIS, The Middle East, Yerevan, Armenia, NKR (Nagorno Karabakh); 2 teams from: Russia.
An International Open Chess Festival, which consists of A and B tournaments /regulation /, will be organized simultaneously with the Pan-Armenian Olympiad.

"Jermuk-2010" V Open Youth Chess Tournament

 The opening ceremony of the “Jermuk-2010” youth chess tournament was held yesterday, on June 26. This is the fifth tournament where boys and girls under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-18 take part in. This year approx. 210 boys and girls from Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Iran and Germany participate in the tournament. For the results please click here.
