The founder and president of the Chess Academy of Armenia is GM Smbat Lputian.

The Board of Directors of the Chess Academy carries out its activity from 2002. Smbat Lputian was elected to be the first president of the Board. From 2004 Galust Galstian is the head. At present the board of directors includes: Galust Galstian, Smbat Lputian, Ruben Mkrtchian and Aram Hajian.
