The International Open Chess Tournament dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence was held in Abovyan (RA). Participants from different regions of RA, as well as Artzakh and India were participating in this event: among them were present International Masters, FIDE Masters, and chess players with national rating.

As a result of 9 rounds Rafayel Bakuntz (from Yerevan) took 1st place, IM David Kalashyan (from Gyumri) took 2nd place, Hovik Kocharyan (from Nor Hachn) took 3rd place and Artavazd Hayrapetyan took 4th place.

Participants were awarded according to their age group, among whom were students from Chess Academy of Armenia.

  1. Tereza Ambarjyan (Abovyan)
  2. Anahit Mkrtchyan (Gyumri)
  3. Lili Movsesyan (Abovyan)

The youngest player Menua Hakobyan and oldest player Albert Nurijanyan got special prizes.

The tournament prizes were provided by Abovyan municipality.
