Stepan Avagyan Memorial: "Jermuk 2026" International Round Robin Tournament
2026-01-20The Chess Academy of Armenia in collaboration with the “Jermuk Ashkhar” Health Centre is organizing the “Stepan Avagyan Memorial” from May 28 to June 6, 2026. The tournament will be conducted in a 10-player round-robin format, in 9 rounds and in accordance with FIDE rules.
Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game (with 30 seconds increment starting from move one).
The total prize fund of the tournament is 10 050 000 AMD (≈ 26 000 USD).
1st prize – 3 200 000 AMD
2nd prize – 2 200 000 AMD
3rd prize – 1 700 000 AMD
4th prize – 950 000 AMD
5th prize – 700 000 AMD
6th prize – 380 000 AMD
7th prize – 230 000 AMD
8th prize – 230 000 AMD
9th prize – 230 000 AMD
10th prize– 230 000 AMD
*All prizes are subject to income tax implications according to the laws of the Republic of Armenia.

In case of tie breaks, monetary prizes will not be distributed, and the final standings will be carried out according to:
a) Sonneborn Berger,
b) Result(s) of the direct encounter(s),
c) Greater number of games played with black pieces,
d) Greater number of victories,
