Stepan Avagyan Memorial - International Open Swiss Tournament
2026-02-12The Chess Academy of Armenia, in collaboration with the Chess Academy Club, is organizing the “Stepan Avagyan Memorial” International Youth Chess Tournament, which will take place from May 27 to June 3, 2026. The tournament will be conducted in a 9 round Swiss system and will be held in different age groups.
The total prize fund of the tournament is 2 350 000 AMD. Participants taking 1-3 places during the tournament will be awarded with medals and diplomas.
The tournament venue is Chess Academy of Armenia (Yerevan, Shevchenko 34).
PARTICIPATION
In the Under-18 and Under-14 boys’ and girls’ category, players holding First Category, as well as those with a national or international rating, are eligible to participate. Both national and international ratings will be calculated in theses tournaments.
Only players with FIDE ID are eligible to participate in the tournament. In case a player does not have a FIDE ID, they must apply to the Armenian Chess Federation by May 23, or follow the following link: https://chessfed.am/en/fide-registration-form․
Boys and girls under 12 - at least II category (born in 2015 and for participants from the regions - III category).
Boys and girls under 10 - at least III category (born in 2017 and for participants from the regions - IV category).
Boys and girls under 8 - at least IV category (born in 2019 and limited number of unrated participants from the regions).
In the Under-10 and Under-12 boys’ and girls’ categories, national rating will be calculated.
TIME CONTROL
Boys and girls U18, U14 and U12 groups - 90 minutes for the whole game with 30 seconds increment for each move.
Boys and girls U10 and U8 - 60 minutes for the whole game with 30 seconds increment for each move.
Default time of the tournaments is 30 minutes.
